Fishery Rules
Please pay close attention to all the rules for both Shoebury and Priory Park Lakes. If you are unsure of any rules, then please speak to a Bailiff on the bank or ask via our social media outlets. Failure to adhere to the rules may result in you being asked to leave the fishery, removal of your membership and/or a permanent ban from Parks Angling Club waters.
2026/2027 - Rules
General
1. Fishing is only permitted between dawn til dusk.
2. Both lakes will be closed 16 March – 15 June
inclusive.
3. No bank-side fires under any circumstances.
4. Radios or other media devices should not be used
in a manner that is likely to annoy others.
5. Leave no litter. Anglers will be held accountable for
the condition of their swim.
6. Car parking is available at both sites. Please leave
vehicles parked in a respectful manner.
7. Bait boats are allowed.
8. Swim boundaries are clearly marked at Priory, stay
within your boundaries.
9. When cycling around either lakes consideration
must be given to anglers & their equipment.
10. Dogs are allowed; they must be kept under control.
Pick up after them.
11. For the safety of wildfowl, surface fishing is not
permitted at Priory Park.
12. No heavy drinking of alcohol around the lakes. Be
sensible!
13. Juniors under 12 must be accompanied by an
adult.
14. Juniors under 12 must use a maximum of one rod
at a time.
15. You must not be away from the lake for any more
than 2hrs if your equipment is left on site.
16. A maximum of 72hrs is permitted in a single swim,
after this you must move.
Fish safety
1. Carp care kits must be carried by all members.
2. Fishing is permitted from designated swims only.
3. No fixed leads allowed.
4. No leaders are permitted.
5. No more than 2 rods per person to be used at any
time.
6. Fish must not be weighed or retained in plastic
bags under any circumstances.
7. Carp may only be retained whilst preparing for
weighing/photographing.
8. No keepnets allowed under any circumstances.
9. Minimum 42 inch landing net & a large well-
padded unhooking mat is required when fishing for
carp.
10. No fish to be removed or introduced to club waters
under any circumstances.
11. No pike fishing before 01 October.
12. Live baits only to be used if caught from the lake.
13. No live baits in excess
